The Radioactive Patient

In February of 2025, the New York Times Magazine published an article called “Opiate Vs Opiate” and it was about making Suboxone accessible in an ER setting and setting up clinics for aftercare. This is happening in California in a big way. Public health officials are taking notice of this harm reductionist movement. Maybe someday this will go nationwide.
Then, in a recent episode of HBO Max’s Medical Drama “The Pitt,” a patient in withdrawal walks into the ER, complaining of nausea, muscle cramps and diarrhea. He denies all drug use. However, the doctors use Suboxone, not telling him anything more than “this will make you feel better,” which eventually smokes him out.
I did a video on Suboxone, citing statistics sourced from the New York Times Magazine article. The evidence is overwhelming, Suboxone (even though it has its downsides) Saves lives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaWdtruEuBc&t=12s
